Every December, we in the Milwaukee hip hop community look forward to Brother Donte passing out his mix CD with all of his favorite yams of the year. It always includes the best underground joints and songs we never heard before that we immediately like. This year, as a show of appreciation and as a way to spread the word, I mixtape’d his mix CD. And, yes I just created the word mixtape’d.

With Milwaukee’s 2nd annual celebration of Dre Day just a few days away, it’s a perfect time to take a trip down memory lane. And what better way to do that then with a mix of classic old school west coast hip hop videos. It’s just like turning to channel 8, aka “The Box”, when you were young to see your favorite artists. Although, who actually called in and paid for a video though?
