DJ Bizzon competing in Vocalo Radio’s 2013 “Quest For The Best” DJ Competition
This Thursday, I’ll be heading down to Chicago to battle in Vocalo Radio’s “Quest For The Best” DJ competition. If I win, I’ll be apart of the DJ collective on Vocalo, joining the likes of Big Once, Kid Cut Up, Pumpin’ Pete and more. If I win, I’ll get to do ah hour long monthly mix of open format, non top 40 music. Basically, I get to play the music I want on the radio, which is what every DJ would love to do.
If you are in the Chicago area check it out. If not, enjoy my submission below. We had a time limit of 20 minutes to showcase our technical skill, music selection and overall story telling through a mix. Vocalo Radio is an independent radio station so the music had to fit that vibe, but also be varied.
This also marks the beginning of my monthly “If Bizzon Had A Club” mix series where, as the name suggests, I mix the music I’d want to party to if I had my own spot. Stay tuned…

Samplematic: A Collection Of Nas Samples & Songs by DJ Bizzon
In honor of the 20th Anniversary of Nas’ classic album Illmatic and the fact I’ve been able to see him perform live twice this year, I present “Samplematic”.
This is a showcase of memorable Nas samples and how they were flipped in the songs that used them. The mix spans Nas’ entire career, beginning with Illmatic and ending with Life Is Good, similar to how his live shows have been. Nas has so much great music so it was tough to choose just an hour’s worth of songs, but that’s just a testament to how much he’s meant to hip hop. So whether you are a listener, blunthead, fly lady or prisoner, I’m sure you’ll enjoy this.

“Groovin: From Aaliyah to Zhane” is a collection of 90′s R&B jams that were either created or sung by women. From songs that are familiar to ones that rarely got played, this mix showcases the vocal talents and the creativity of that era. I remember watching most of the videos of these songs on The Box (or channel 8 as us Milwaukee folk called it).

Lately, everyone’s been asking the question “Turn Down 4 What”? Well, I can think of a million reasons. I’m tired. I gotta work. I wanna relax. It’s over. We are done with all that. All these turn-ups are too much. That’s why we over here are asking the more important question…. “TURN UP 4 WHAT”?
This two-hour mix of 92 tracks (which is my longest mix ever) is a collection of all my favorite chilled-out remixes and jams that will get you in the most relaxed vibe possible and you’ll forget all the turn-up stuff exists.
